RU Orientation

Welcome to RU Orientation! Orientation takes place the weekend before you start your first semester, and it presents important and exciting steps to set you up for success. Specifically, through Orientation you’ll:

  • Learn about all the resources Rockhurst has to offer
  • Meet faculty, staff, and student leaders who will introduce you to the spirit and traditions of RU
  • Explore academic and campus involvement opportunities
  • Meet new friends

Transfer student? Please see the following information about Transfer Orientation.

Whether a transfer or first-year student you’ll feel welcome among your fellow classmates and excited for what lies ahead. What better way to kick off your time here at RU? Throughout the summer, please look out for your orientation packet and additional information emailed and mailed to you.

During Orientation each new student is on a team competing to win! You’ll find out what team you are on in mid-July when you receive a postcard from your team leaders. Meet the Orientation team leaders.

What to Expect on Day One

If you are living on campus, you will check into your residence hall first. Residence halls open at 7:00 a.m. and you will drive up to the front of the residence hall where staff and students will greet you and assist in moving your items to your room. You will be greeted outside of your residence hall, receive your key and other important information and begin settling in. From there you will check in for Orientation in the Massman Hall Rock Room anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. It would be wise to check in before 12:00 p.m. There, you will receive a packet of information including your class schedule and another checklist of things to complete that day. Remember to bring your laptop and smartphone (if you have them) with you to check-in for Orientation. Computer Services will load anti-virus software, add you to the campus Wi-Fi, and if you have a smartphone, set up your Rockhurst email on your phone.

If you are not living on campus, please check in for Orientation in the Massman Hall Rock Room anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 pm. Remember to bring your laptop and smartphone to campus if you have them as Computer services will load anti-virus software, add you to the campus Wi-Fi, and if you have a smartphone, set up your Rockhurst email on your phone.
