- About
At Rockhurst, we are committed to our students’ well-being, both in and out of the classroom. We are excited to announce that the Saint Luke's Urgent Care is now open and is located in the North Parking Garage (5151 Troost, Suite 200 Kansas City, MO 64110; 816-502-9130). You do not need to be a Saint Luke’s patient to see a provider at Saint Luke’s Urgent Care. Upon your request, we will share the details of your visit with your primary care provider. If you need a follow-up visit with a physician, we can provide a referral for you.
Another resource is Goppert Trinity Family Care (6675 Holmes Road, Unit 360, Kansas City, MO 64131; 816-276-7600) is located directly just two miles south of our Troost campus by car or bus – and they take a wide range of health insurances (please verify when you make your appointment). In fact, students who have the Rockhurst University sponsored student health insurance plan have the plan-covered services there done with no deductible and no co-pay. Also, in these COVID times, people are encouraged to consider using the virtual apps offered by many health insurance companies and related providers, including Blue KC’s Virtual Care as well as Saint Luke’s Health System
Current Health Considerations
Rockhurst University is monitoring the evolving situation regarding the continued spread of the coronavirus, COVID-19, worldwide.
The waiver site is now CLOSED.
Please visit the waiver portal here to submit your student health insurance waiver. Rockhurst University has negotiated an affordable and comprehensive health care plan for our students and their dependents. We will be partnering once again with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City as our insurance carrier for the upcoming academic year. Individual coverage has to be active by August 1st for the waiver to be approved. Full-time undergraduate (12 hours or more) or full-time graduate (9 hours or more) students are automatically enrolled in this program unless they waive the requirement through our web-based enrollment/waiver system by the established deadline of January 27, 2023, for the spring/summer. Enrollment in the University-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) is mandatory for all full-time undergraduate (12 credit hours or more), graduate (9 credit hours or more). Exceptions include full-time graduate students in the MBA, Data Analytics and Organizational Leadership program, part-time, accelerated option, Executive MBA, DO/MBA, MBA/PHY, AA/AS, RN to BSN, MSN, M.Ed., Ed.D and post-baccalaureate student who all may voluntarily enroll in this program if enrolled in a minimum of 4 credit hours. Dependents of full-time students may also be eligible for enrollment in the plan. For further information, please visit Student Insurance.
Students must actively attend classes and remain enrolled with Rockhurst for the first 31 days of each term to be eligible for coverage.
