Program Description
Rockhurst University’s elementary education major in Kansas City offers initial teacher certification in grades 1-6, preparing you to become a caring leader in primary education who engages in innovative teaching, collaboration and reflective practice.
Through significant intellectual study and a variety of child education field and service-learning experiences, you’ll acquire the knowledge, skills and disposition necessary to instruct diverse learners as an elementary teacher in the 21st-century classroom.
Our accredited bachelor of elementary education degree fosters inquiry, intellectual creativity and evidence-based decision-making skills to equip you to face challenges in today’s global society.
All students majoring in education will automatically receive our annual $1,000 Education Majors Scholarship.
Learning Outcomes
The Missouri Teaching Standards convey the expectations of performance for professional child education teachers in Missouri. The standards are based on teaching theory indicating that early childhood education degree graduates become effective teachers who:
