Rockhurst's professional Success Coaches are here to build your path to success!
Our Mission
The mission of success coaching is driven by Rockhurst's core value of “cura personalis,” or care of the whole person. Coaches work with students to listen to concerns and offer compassionate care, teach self-advocacy skills to adapt to and succeed in college life, identify obstacles and assist in strategizing solutions, and offer referrals to identified support services on campus. Success Coaches also create programming and support initiatives that increase student engagement for both short-term and long-term academic success.
Our Services
The following coaching resources are all free to Rockhurst University undergraduate and graduate students. Let us help you find success during your time at Rockhurst.
Individual Success Coaching Appointments
Connect with a Success Coach and schedule your individual time to talk through support networks, discuss goals, and get connected with campus resources. Meet our Success Coaches to find out more information about the success coaching process and how to schedule.
Academic Probation Student Success
While it may not be the best news to find out you are on academic probation or warning, there are ways to persevere through it. We have all been there---that class that did not go as planned, a major or career path that was not what we expected, or a semester where life obstacles happened and took our attention away from classes. We can ignore it and be frustrated, or we can choose to embrace it as an opportunity to learn more about ourselves and what motivates us. Reach out to your success coach to discuss details on your success plan.
Commuter Connections
Connect with other commuters in our Commuter Lounge located on the 3rd floor of Conway, and become a member of our new student-ran Commuter Club on campus. Follow @RockUrcommute on Instagram for the latest updates. Looking for a study space away from home? Find study spaces on campus where you can connect with other commuters.
Peer Coaching
The Peer Coaching program consists of certified peer educators that can assist all students by offering direct coaching and support related to each student’s own academic journey and interest areas. RU Peer Coaches are certified by the NASPA Certified Peer Educator program. Applications to be a coach are part of the Student Leader application process that is available each January.
RISE
As a part of one of our scholarship programs, Rockhurst Inspiring Success in Everyone (RISE) is an individualized support community where you are introduced to specific resources on campus that will get you connected to success. These resources include specific sections of RISE classes with other scholars, embedded peer tutors to provide support for studying, success coaching, and peer coaching.
RU First
RU First celebrates the achievements and individual journeys of our First-Generation students through specialized programming, appreciation weeks, peer coaching support, and the Hall of Inspiration. Follow @Rockhurstufirst on Instagram to stay up to date.
