Rockhurst University’s Helzberg School Introduces Region’s First “Stackable” MBA

January 23, 2023
For the fall 2023 semester, the Helzberg School of Management at Rockhurst University is launching a new way to earn their signature MBA degree — one that lets students build it from the ground up. The new Stackable MBA, the first of its kind in the region, lets students build a degree by earning three certificates — one of which being the business administration certificate. It’s the same makeup of the traditional MBA degree, with courses in management, marketing, business intelligence and economics in addition to a Jesuit core values course. But what students wish to pair with that certificate...

Work has begun to raise funds for the center and to identify a location and construction and design partners.

Growing Program Prepares Young Professionals with ‘More’
November 17, 2021
A campus leadership and professional development program is growing exponentially thanks to the competitive advantage it gives Rockhurst University grads entering their careers. The Magis Leaders Program was created about a decade ago by David Fowler, former managing partner of KPMG, when he observed that RU graduates were capable and skilled but not all knew the ins and outs of professional conduct. A program was designed to teach students success skills not found in the rigors of academic courses and bring community professionals to class as speakers.

At Conference, Jesuit Institutions of All Sizes Talk Commonalities
November 11, 2021
A lot separates the Jesuit higher-learning institutions in the United States — size, location and degree programs, to name a few. But they also face many of the same questions. That’s the reason senior student development officers from across the country were on the Rockhurst University campus this week as part of the Jesuit Association of Student Personnel Administrators’ annual...

Alumna’s Artwork Tells the Story of Kateri Community’s Namesake
November 8, 2021
One of the first things you see as you enter Kateri Community is now a large ink drawing of two entwined hands, framed by a thick wooden frame. This, believe it or not, is a portrait. The piece was created by Laura Bryon-Knapp, ’07, specifically for this spot, as a tribute to the namesake of the pair of residential communities...

For 12 years, the memory of Nelson Hopkins Jr. has lived on at the Rockhurst University campus. Young Alumna Makes Data Make Sense
October 29, 2021
Like a lot of college students, Maddie Dierkes, ’19, ’21 M.S., said she came to Rockhurst University not knowing exactly what she wanted to do. She arrived planning to major in computer science , but it didn’t quite fit. She took mathematics courses, too, and “floated around” while looking for what clicked with her. It wasn’t until her junior year...
