Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
The Blessed Sacrament resides in the tabernacle in Massman Hall's Mabee Chapel, which can be accessed for prayer by students 24-hours a day with their RU ID.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28).
Receive forgiveness and lightness of spirit through this powerful Sacrament of Christ’s love by celebrating Reconciliation, which is offered each Sunday (while classes are in session) in the Mabee Chapel Reconciliation Room from 5:15 – 5:45pm. Reconciliation is also available during the week by appointment.
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)
This process, available through Saint Francis Xavier Parish, prepares the participant for Baptism into the Catholic faith, the profession of the Catholic faith, and/or the Sacrament of Confirmation. For more information, contact Bill Kriege at 816-501-4855.
Liturgical Ministry
With the exception of the presider, students occupy all of the liturgical ministries at our masses: your leadership, goodness, and talents are needed. Contact Bill Kriege at 816-501-4855 if you are interested, have questions, or would like to be trained.
Altar Server (Practicing Catholics): Assist the presider in this valued and vital position as you attend to details and ensure that the Mass progresses seamlessly and prayerfully.
Lector (Practicing Catholics): Proclaim the Scriptures, reading stories of God’s love to God’s people.
Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion (Confirmed, Practicing Catholics): Assist with Communion as servant, host, and helper. Communion is a major sign of the inclusive hospitality of Christ who calls all of us to the Table and who unifies us through his very presence in the Body and Blood.
Cantor/Vocalist: Sing a new song unto the Lord! Contact Hyunki Yoon at 816-501-4869 if you are interested in sharing your talent as a cantor.
Joyful Noise: Student vocalists and musicians are invited to share their talents in Joyful Noise, a contemporary musical group which leads the singing at two student liturgies per month. Faithful attendance to Friday morning practices, musical talent, and a desire to invite others into the Spirit of the song are all that’s required! Contact Bill Kriege at 816-501-4855.
Instrumentalist: Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to God on the ten-stringed lyre. (Psalm 33:2). OK, so you play neither the harp nor the lyre. No problem! Flute, brass, guitar, strings, and percussion talent add life to liturgy! Contact Hyunki Yoon at 816-501-4869 or Bill Kriege at 816-501-4855 if you wish to step forward.
Mass Hospitality
Mass Hospitality provides an opportunity for student organizations to support and build our Eucharistic community through assisting as greeters, ushers, and gift-bearers and through hosting the post-Mass social (think doughnuts or homemade treats!). All of these roles may be filled by students of any faith tradition: all Rockhurst students are welcome and encouraged to participate. To learn more or express interest, contact Bill Kriege at 816-501-4855.
