- Have at least 36 of the 60 prerequisite credit hours
- Have completed two of the four required natural science courses (Human Anatomy with lab, Chemistry with lab, Microbiology with lab, and Human Physiology with lab) before applying.
- Completed Anatomy and Physiology sequences can be one of two options: Human Anatomy then Human Physiology OR Anatomy and Physiology I then Anatomy and Physiology II. A sequence is not complete if a student takes Human Anatomy then Anatomy and Physiology II or Anatomy and Physiology I then Human Physiology.
- Have the required science courses (Human Anatomy with lab, Chemistry with lab, Microbiology with lab, and Human Physiology with lab) that are no older than five years old at the time of enrollment.
- Have not repeated and failed Anatomy & Physiology, Chemistry, Microbiology, and College Algebra more than one time.
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for the following prerequisites courses : Anatomy & Physiology, Chemistry, Microbiology, and College Algebra
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 for all prerequisite coursework.
- Students transferring in two or more of these required nursing prerequisites (Anatomy & Physiology, Chemistry, Microbiology, and College Algebra or equivalent) are required to take the TEAS exam. Results will be analyzed with the student to provide resources, support, and remediation as needed. (register)
- Have graduated from an accredited high school (GED and HiSET also accepted).
- Are a U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, or F1Visa.
If you have NOT met all of the above requirements, please complete the general Rockhurst application. Once admitted you can take your remaining prerequisites coursework at Rockhurst and then competitively to get into the program when you are ready.
Step 2: If you meet those requirements, complete your application by clicking here. Apply Now.
To be considered you must send all official previous and current transcripts as a part of your application.
We are currently accepting applications for Spring 2024. The deadline is August 1st.
The following items are required to complete the application:
- Official transcript(s) from each school attended
- Up-to-date transcripts should include Advanced Placement (AP), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), and International Baccalaureate (IB) credits, and be sent directly to admissions@rockhurst.edu
- Home-schooled students must provide proof of a GED or HiSET exam
- A resume reflecting qualifications, work, and volunteer experience
- TEAS Exam
- If you have been enrolled in another nursing program, you must provide a letter from the dean/nursing program director on official college letterhead verifying reasons for withdrawal/dismissal and eligibility for readmission
* If you do not submit your official transcript(s) after final grades you will be dropped from your RU classes by the registrar's office the first week of class.*
BSN students will be under the standard undergraduate tuition rate and eligible for applicable merit and need-based scholarships.
Please note: The RU transfer wizard is a tool used to guide student advising regarding approved transfer credits. However, it does not replace the pre-nursing advising process. If you are planning to transfer in one of the required nursing prerequisites (such as A&P, Microbiology, or Chemistry), please confirm with the pre-nursing advisor that the course meets the nursing requirements. Nursing students are required to take Anatomy and Physiology I and Anatomy and Physiology II with labs OR Anatomy with lab and Physiology with lab. Nursing students cannot mix course structure and curriculum for Anatomy and Physiology.
For instance, if you are taking Anatomy and Physiology I, you must take Anatomy and Physiology II. If you take Anatomy, you must take Physiology. The course content is taught in a continuous sequence. If you mix and take Anatomy and Physiology I and then take Physiology (or vice versa), you will miss a major portion of the required content. The pre-nursing advisor or admissions counselor can assist you to make sure the courses you plan to take will provide the necessary content for nursing students.
If you will be completing your bachelor’s degree at Rockhurst in another program and want to complete a second bachelor's degree in nursing apply here.
