A Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) is an entry-level graduate degree that prepares students to become generalist occupational therapy practitioners. Occupational therapy education at Rockhurst University has been offered for more than three decades. Rockhurst offers an accredited, on-ground, entry-level Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) degree and is in the process of reactivating its accredited Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) program, this time in a hybrid format.

Rockhurst's Master of Occupational Therapy degree is an entry-level program that prepares graduates to become generalist practitioners. The hybrid format is designed for nontraditional students and working professionals. The Kansas City-based program consists of 75 credit hours and is completed in two years (six semesters). Students learn theory, research, and evidence-based interventions and delivery systems for populations across the lifespan, addressing the domain and process of occupational therapy in medical and community settings through online coursework, interactive lab sessions, service learning, and fieldwork.
The MOT program is designed for self-directed adult learners and draws from a wide variety of undergraduate majors and backgrounds. Fieldwork experiences are tailored to students’ preferred practice settings and geographical locations.
The program is delivered in a hybrid format using asynchronous distance-based online sessions and on-campus intensive seminars. Courses use Canvas as an electronic distance-based learning platform. Our unique MOT program provides a Jesuit education that promotes critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and skill development in a supportive environment.

Rockhurst MOT Hybrid Logistics
Students travel to Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri, each semester for intensive face-to-face lab seminars. These sessions take place on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There are 10 weekend intensive lab seminars in total. Semesters 1 through 4 each include two intensive weekends, and Semesters 5 and 6 each include one. Face-to-face sessions take place in state-of-the-art labs and simulation spaces.
MOT students will complete two 12-week fieldwork rotations, totaling six months. These are established in collaboration with the student, taking into account their learning goals, geographical location* and preferred/available practice settings.
Students learn from faculty who are experts in their field. Faculty have advanced credentials and certifications, maintain active involvement with state, national, and international organizations, and present and publish in peer-reviewed scholarly sources.

MASTER OF OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY PROGRAM ACCREDITATION
