2020-2021 Student Health Insurance Information

Rockhurst University has negotiated an affordable and comprehensive health care plan for our students and their dependents. The Rockhurst health insurance provider for 2020-21 will remain with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City. The student health insurance is a great way to address both routine health care needs as well as receive adequate care during periods of medical crisis.

The plan is required for all full-time undergraduate students (12 hours or more) and graduate students (9 hours or more) unless proof of current health insurance coverage is supplied to Health Services by the waiver deadline of August 28, 2020, for the fall semester. The insurance is voluntary for all other students including full-time graduate students in the MBA, Data Analytics and Organizational Leadership program,  accelerated option, Executive MBA, DO/MBA, MBA/PHY, DPT/MBA, AA/AS, MSN, RN to BSN, Ed.D, part-time graduate/undergraduate, and post-baccalaureate students. I heard that full-time undergraduate and graduate students are required to have the student health insurance offered via Rockhurst. Is that true?

Full-time undergraduate students carrying 12 or more hours and full-time graduate students carrying 9 or more hours,(with the exception of MBA, Data Analytics and Organizational Leadership students) including Saint Luke's College of Health Sciences students, are required to have the plan or provide documentation of their current valid health care using the online waiver/enrollment process by the waiver deadline of August 28, 2020, for the fall semester, or Jan. 22, 2021, for transfer and new students beginning in the spring semester. Waivers must be submitted online .

What are the benefits of having student health insurance in addition to the coverage already offered by my employer/parents/spouse?

The University negotiated a comprehensive and affordable student health insurance plan for Rockhurst students with Relation Insurance. Given the benefits offered for the cost, this is a great way to address health care costs for injuries and sickness as well as to help pay for care during periods of medical crisis.
