INSTRUCTOR REQUIREMENTS
Each high school instructor teaching an RU Dual Credit Program course must be approved by the appropriate Rockhurst University academic department and meet the university’s faculty credentialing requirements.
Instructors teaching dual credit courses should meet one of the following qualifications:
- A master’s degree in the discipline
- 18+ graduate credit hours in the discipline
- A Master of Education, in addition to a bachelor’s degree in the discipline
For instructors who do not meet one of the preferred qualifications above, consideration may be given through an Additional Consideration pathway:
- A bachelor’s degree in the discipline and professional experience that satisfies the university’s tested experience criteria
All instructors’ credentials are subject to review and approval by the appropriate academic department for validation.

Your application will get sent to the appropriate university academic department for review. The Dual Credit Coordinator will be in contact with you regarding your approval.
Instructor Compensation
Approved RU Dual Credit Program instructors are compensated for teaching approved dual credit courses through Rockhurst University.
Instructors receive $1,000 for the first section of each approved course taught within an academic year and $500 for each additional section of the same course during that academic year.
This compensation recognizes the additional time and effort involved in teaching college-level coursework, including instruction, collaboration with Rockhurst University personnel, required training, and professional development. Compensation is contingent upon sufficient student enrollment and the satisfactory completion of all instructional and program responsibilities.
Rockhurst University reserves the right to modify compensation practices and program requirements as needed.
