Cap & Gown, Announcements, and Graduation Accessories

During the commencement ceremony, graduates may wear Rockhurst-issued cords, stoles, medals and pins that indicate academic honors. These embellishments acknowledge students who have completed university honors curricula, or membership in elite nationally/internationally recognized honor societies whose primary purpose is academic preparation or academic recognition.  Academic Honors are ordered for, and distributed to, students by the organization governing the honor.

Students are welcome to wear cords and stoles with symbols of social, fraternal or religious organizations during Friday’s Baccalaureate Mass and reception and other events/activities prior to and following the commencement ceremony (such as Hawk Walk).

Cap Decorations are permitted if tastefully done; inappropriate caps will be removed and replaced with blank caps prior to the commencement ceremony.
