This comprehensive program combines online learning with hands-on clinical practice to ensure participants are fully prepared to re-enter the nursing workforce.
The Rockhurst University Saint Luke's College of Nursing & Health Sciences offers two main options for the working professional to regain the necessary requirements – a refresher option and a reinstatement option. Refresher Option
- Designed for nurses who have maintained their licenses but require a refresher after being away from the bedside.
- This option includes a combination of online classroom instruction and clinical practice to quickly update and refine essential nursing skills.
Refresher Program Outlines:
Online Classroom (24 hours)
- Module 1: Overview and Nursing Fundamentals
- Module 2: Medical-Surgical Focus/Care of the Adult
- Module 3: Psychiatric Care
- Module 4: Maternal-Neonatal Care
- Module 5: Care of the Child
- Module 6: Professional Issues
Clinical Skills Review and Practice
- Lab Setting: 4 hours of intensive, hands-on practice to refresh and refine essential nursing skills.
Clinical Hours
- Total: 40 hours of supervised clinical experience.
- Customization: Clinical placements are tailored to accommodate each student's preferences and include mentorship from experienced clinical professionals.
Fees: $1,000
Reinstatement Option
- Geared towards nurses who need to reinstate their licenses.
- Includes 120 didactic hours and 120 clinical hours, providing an in-depth review and practical experience to meet reinstatement requirements.
Reinstatement Program Outlines:
Didactic Hours (120)
- Online Classroom: 24 hours of theoretical instruction and review.
- Clinical Skills Review and Practice: 4 hours of hands-on skills practice.
- Transition to Professional Practice: 90 hours focused on transitioning back into the professional nursing role.
- NCLEX Success Prep: 2 hours with an assigned faculty member to prepare for the NCLEX exam.
Clinical Hours (120)
- Acute Care Focus: 96 hours in acute care settings to ensure readiness for high-demand environments.
- Additional Settings: Opportunities in skilled nursing or other relevant healthcare settings to provide a well-rounded clinical experience.
- Clinical placements will be customized to accommodate students’ preferences and needs, ensuring a relevant and beneficial experience.
