University Enrollment Once Again Breaks Records

Summer enrollment at Rockhurst University once again broke the record — which was only established last year.

Total enrollment this summer at Rockhurst University was 1,571, an increase of nearly 200 students over the previous summer term’s enrollment of 1,397. The bulk of that increase comes from an increase in graduate students, where enrollment increased by 170 students over the summer 2024 term, as well an increase for undergraduate students in the accelerated Bachelor of Science in nursing program.

Additional students enrolled in the Master of Science in Nursing, Doctor of Education and the Doctor of Physical Therapy programs and additional students pursuing the University’s certificate offerings account for much of that increase.

“Word travels fast, because we continue to see strong interest and growth in many of our graduate programs,” said Sandra Cassady, Ph.D., University president. “Our MSN and Ed.D. programs, in particular, continue to attract students from all over the country who seek a flexible education with the Jesuit approach to leadership development.”

It’s not just summer enrollment that is seeing an increase at Rockhurst University. Last weekend, new freshman students were officially welcomed to the Rockhurst University community — a class that is 12% bigger than the previous year. The number of transfer students pursuing undergraduate degrees at Rockhurst in the fall increased by 10% over the previous year. All told, a total of 1,045 new students joined the University between May and August.

“More students at all levels are choosing Rockhurst, and it’s not a surprise as to why,” said Mark Steinlage, vice president of enrollment management. “Our commitment to a rigorous academic environment rooted in Jesuit values, connections with major area employers and emphasis on building leaders of character, courage and purpose attract students who want to do more than earn a degree.”
