Graduate Business Certificates – Frequently Asked Questions
When can I start the program?
We have four entry points throughout the year for this program. New classes begin in January, March, August and October.
When do classes meet?
On-campus classes meet one night a week from about 5:45 to 9 p.m. Most classes meet in Conway Hall. Most online classes include weekly assignments to complete within a specified time window.
Do I need to submit a GMAT or GRE score for admission?
A GMAT or GRE score is not required.
How long will it take to complete the certificate?
The certificate requires 12 credit hours of coursework. In most cases, this means completing four 3-credit-hour classes in about 15 months. Some certificate tracks require prerequisites, which may be waived with prior coursework.
How much does the certificate cost?
See the graduate tuition and fees page for cost information.
Why should I invest in a certificate program?
Graduate certificates focus on specific areas students may want to pursue further. They are designed for graduates who are changing industries or responsibilities, or who want to enhance their graduate education with up-to-date information.
Can I participate in networking events and use career services?
All students in our graduate business programs are invited to participate in the many networking opportunities offered each year and can use the on-campus career services department.
How does the alumni discount program work?
The alumni discount program allows students to take one class each semester at a reduced tuition cost. The half-off tuition price applies per semester (three classes a year), not per eight-week term. Students complete an alumni discount form with their adviser and may register for a class two weeks before it begins, if space is available. If the class is full, students using the alumni discount cannot register. Alumni-discounted courses must be paid for on the day of registration and are not eligible for federal student loans.
What is the admission process?
Each student must complete an online application and have a bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited institution. Official transcripts from your degree-granting institution are required and should be mailed directly from your school to:
Rockhurst University
Helzberg School of Management, Graduate Admissions
Conway Hall, Room 201F
1100 Rockhurst Road
Kansas City, MO 64110-2561
Electronic transcripts are also accepted and may be sent to gradbusiness@rockhurst.edu.
In addition to the required transcripts, you must submit a professional resume to gradbusiness@rockhurst.edu. The resume should detail professional work experience and include any relevant technical skills (Excel, SQL, programming, etc.).
Can I fit a certificate into my busy life?
All analytics and insights certificate tracks are designed with you — the working professional — in mind. That’s why we offer both on-campus and online program options. On-campus classes meet once a week after your workday ends. With courses that are only eight weeks long, you’ll earn your certificate at a pace that works for you.
Can I complete my projects using my current company’s data and analytic tools?
You are encouraged to use coursework to solve relevant business problems. We want you to use the programs and data relevant to your career as much as possible. If that’s not an option for you, don’t worry. We also offer the option of obtaining data sets from your Helzberg School instructors.
What if I'm not proficient in R, Python, programming or statistics?
