The Missouri Department of Social Services (MO DSS) is responsible for coordinating programs to provide:
- Public assistance to help Missourians with food stamps, health care, childcare, child support, blind services and other basic needs.
- Health care coverage for eligible Missourians.
- Child welfare services to help ensure the safety, permanency, and well-being of Missouri children.
- Specialized assistance to troubled teens.
- Energy assistance
- Services for families to help with individual and family counseling and much more.
- Skill UP can help recipients gain skills, training, and employer connections to help get a job or a better job. It can also help pay for childcare, transportation, and work expenses.

Who is eligible?
- The applicant must be a Missouri resident.
- Considered low-income by the State of Missouri’s low-income guidelines.
How do I schedule an appointment? Qualifying students, faculty and staff can schedule an appointment by logging into Rockhurst University’s web portal and click on the Prosperity Center’s application.
Are appointments required? Yes, appointments are required and located on campus at the Prosperity Center for Financial Opportunity 5151 Troost Ave. Ste. 100 Kansas City, MO 64110.
What do I need to bring to my appointment? Photo ID. Unless otherwise discussed with a MO DSS Program Benefits Specialist.
