Anderson Engineering -- Engineering Intern

What does a “day in the life of a Civil Engineering Intern at Anderson Engineering” entail? A typical day for me, Joseph Buchheit, at Anderson Engineering usually involves working on the design of a project site while communicating with the owner to encompass their needs, then later verifying everything is built to our specifications. Throughout the early stages of a project, we work closely with the owner to ensure that our design meets what they are looking for. This involves a lot of internal communication and several modifications to the project plans before they are sent to the contractor. When the contractor receives our plans, they usually have questions or indicate that something cannot be built the way it was originally planned. Throughout this process, we will make several visits to the project site to make sure that everything is being constructed the way it is supposed to be. As a result, I get to see the whole project progress from start to finish, so I get a good balance of working in the office and working in the field. The best part about my job is that there is very little repetition which makes things challenging but very fun and rewarding.
