Department of Physics Mission Statement

At the Department of Physics we are committed to serve the needs of our students by providing quality education (coursework and experiences in physics) needed for physics majors; majors or minors in other disciplines; and for the general education of all students. We have designed our courses to cover both the practical and the conceptual, thus providing our students with the intellectual tools necessary to apply their knowledge as well as to become lifelong learners.

We are also committed to helping our physics students achieve an understanding of the subject that will enable them to attend graduate school, teach at the secondary level, or enter a career in business, medicine, industry or government. We seek to educate our students in a way that is consistent with the University’s mission and within the framework of Jesuit values.
