Information Regarding MOVEit Cybersecurity Vulnerability

Rockhurst University has been notified by the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) and by the University’s retirement plan provider, the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (TIAA), that they were impacted by the recent nationwide cybersecurity breach targeting organizations using MOVEit file transfer software.

Both NSC and TIAA transfer personal data that include Social Security numbers and date of birth — for students as part of federal reporting requirements and for faculty and staff as part of the administration of retirement plan benefits. However, it is not yet known what, if any, of that information was exposed as a result of the breach.

Please note that neither case involved a local breach of the University’s internal servers. The University is closely monitoring the situation and continues to work with NSC and TIAA officials on next steps. Information and recommendations for those who might be affected will be shared as it becomes available.
