My name is Brenna McAdam, and I am a senior Strategic Communication student at Rockhurst University with an emphasis in Public Relations and Advertising. This summer, I've had the pleasure of interning with Parris Communications, a highly respected public relations firm in Kansas City.
As the Media Relations, Social Media, and Event Planning Intern, I've had the opportunity to grow professionally in ways I never expected. From attending community events to assisting with their planning, coordination, and execution, I've gained firsthand experience in the many moving parts of public relations. One of the things I've admired most about Parris Communications is the team's attention to detail and empathetic approach to serving clients and the Kansas City community. Watching Team Parris lead with both strategy and heart has been an invaluable learning experience.
This internship has also allowed me to expand my experience managing clients' social media accounts, further fueling my passion for strategic communications. I especially enjoy seeing ideas develop from initial brainstorming sessions into finished campaigns that engage audiences and tell meaningful stories. Being able to collaborate with my team and clients has allowed me to strengthen my confidence, helping me continue to develop as a communications professional.
At Parris Communications, I've been fortunate to work alongside an incredible group of professionals who are committed to helping their clients and the Kansas City community feel heard, supported, and valued. I'd especially like to thank Cadie Connors and Tavarus Pennington, who have become invaluable mentors throughout my internship and early professional journey. I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue with Team Parris throughout the fall semester, and I'm excited to keep building my knowledge and experience in the field of public relations.
