This summer, I had the opportunity to intern in the Audit Department at Forvis Mazars, and it was an incredibly rewarding experience. This internship gave me the chance to apply the knowledge I’ve gained in the classroom to real-world clients and business situations while further developing my technical and professional skills.
The internship began with training in Orlando, Florida, where I learned how to navigate client binders, collaborate with colleagues, and build a strong foundation in the firm's audit processes. Throughout the summer, I had the opportunity to work on financial statement audits and employee benefit plan engagements, gaining hands-on experience that strengthened my understanding of the audit profession.
As this was my first internship, I was extremely nervous and unsure of what to expect. Looking back, seeing my growth and increased confidence week after week is something I will always appreciate. I am incredibly grateful to Hope Russell, M.S. and the entire Forvis Mazars team for their guidance, support, and encouragement as I began my accounting career.
As my internship comes to an end, I’m excited to return to Rockhurst University to complete my MBA and begin preparing for the CPA exam. I’m thankful for this experience and look forward to applying everything I’ve learned in the next chapter of my career.
