Academic and Clinical Course Formats

With a history of excellent academic and clinical instruction, starting Fall 2025 (pending CAA approval), the Rockhurst SLP program will add online course options and in-person focused education allowing flexibility and hands-on application of learning. These outstanding educational options will prepare you for a meaningful career in speech-language pathology.

Post Bachelor’s Leveling Program

If you do not have an undergraduate degree in SLP, you can still apply to the MS in SLP Program. We offer provisional admittance during a post-bachelor's leveling year. You can continue working during this year with all leveling courses offered online synchronously two nights a week. Following the prerequisite coursework, you can begin your graduate studies in Speech-Language Pathology. Find your educational track today.

Accreditation

The Master of Science (M.S.) in Speech-Language Pathology program at Rockhurst University in Kansas City is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). New campus locations will open fall 2025 in Denver, Phoenix and Omaha (pending CAA approval).

What is the duration of the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program
The program typically takes five semesters to complete for full-time students. This includes a combination of classroom instruction, community-based practicum experiences and hands-on training.
What types of clinical sites will I experience during my training?
Our program partners with a wide variety of community-based clinical sites, allowing you to gain experience with culturally and linguistically diverse populations. You’ll have the opportunity to work with both pediatric and adult clients.
What is the Praxis exam, and how does Rockhurst’s program perform?
The Praxis exam is a national certification exam for speech-language pathologists. Rockhurst’s program boasts a Praxis exam pass rate that exceeds the national average, reflecting our strong clinical training and preparation.
Is the Speech-Language Pathology program accredited?
Yes, the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology residential (in-person) program is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
What cities can I study in?
Starting Fall 2025 (pending CAA approval) Rockhurst will expand to have a training site at three other Jesuit University campuses including Creighton University campuses in Omaha, NE, and Phoenix, AZ, as well as Regis University in Denver, CO.
Can I still apply even if I don’t have an undergraduate degree in SLP?
Yes, you can still apply to the MS in SLP program. You will take one year of leveling classes two evenings a week. You will then be automatically accepted into the MS in SLP courses once all criteria are met.
What are the employment prospects after graduation?
Employment opportunities for graduates are very strong. Jobs for speech-language pathologists are expected to grow faster than average during 2023-33, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
