Program Description 

Students in the Public Relations and Advertising major apply and uniquely develop both human communication and mass communication skills with a goal-oriented approach to understanding communication in interpersonal relationships and the media. They are able to integrate their liberal arts knowledge seamlessly with the major, where students take a variety of communication courses to get a well-rounded, purpose-driven experience. In addition, students take upper-level coursework that supplements their knowledge of communication and further develops their skillset. 

Many students will complement this major with a second or third major to enhance their academic experience at Rockhurst.

  • Students are encouraged to complete internships while completing their degree. Internships have been completed at places such as:  
    • Lockton

  • Students work with a local organization for their capstone project, where they identify communication issues and make recommendations to the organization
  • Students can participate in the communication speed networking event where they can meet and talk with professionals currently in communication roles
