- About
The College of Arts and Sciences at Rockhurst University offers undergraduate programs in the natural sciences, arts and humanities, and social sciences, and both undergraduate and graduate programs in the School of Education. The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest academic unit at RU with over 25 majors and 27 minors at the undergraduate level, providing innovative and interdisciplinary opportunities.
Our world-class faculty engage students in active learning experiences to develop critical and creative approaches to knowledge while building a foundation of values in an inclusive culture. Faculty are highly accessible to students for one-on-one advising and mentoring conversations to advance their learning, self-formation, and career goals. Students have opportunities to engage in research with a faculty mentor, including capstone projects and competitive paid summer fellowships available to all disciplines.
We prepare graduates for successful careers and engaged citizenship. Students have opportunities to enhance their College experience through Study Abroad, the Honors Program, and pursuing a minor area of study such as art, music, theatre, film acting, Catholic studies, and women, gender & sexuality studies. Pre-Med, Pre-Health, and Pre-Law programs and related clubs and service learning opportunities help students gain a competitive edge when applying for employment and graduate education programs.
The School of Education in the College of Arts and Sciences prepares teachers in our nationally accredited undergraduate (B.A. and B.S.) and Master’s of Education (M.Ed.) degree programs through diverse field experiences such as RU’s STEAM Studio, a design thinking and creative space for local learners and community members. The Doctorate of Education Degree (Ed.D.) in Education and Leadership prepares graduates for careers as faculty and administrators in higher education with two concentration areas: Health Care Education or Higher Education.
