Cessation Resources

Rockhurst University recognizes that quitting tobacco use is a personal choice and can be a significant challenge. The University is committed to assisting members of our community in their tobacco cessation efforts. Tobacco cessation programs are an integral component in implementing this policy.

Here is a list of resources available to Rockhurst University students, faculty and staff:

On Campus

Blue Cross Blue Shield “A Healthier You” program
This program offers free telephonic tobacco cessation to BCBS members through Trestle Tree. For non-members there is a $10 monthly fee.

ExpressScripts
Select smoking-cessation medications are available through the RU Prescription Drug program with a prescription from your physician. Covered medications include: Bupropion SR (generic)-formulary and Chantix-formulary, nicotine replacement gum and patches. Contact your physician or ExpressScripts customer service at 1-800-955-1201 for more information.

Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, this quit line offers free information, consultations, counseling and an intensive telephone-based cessation program. Services include specialized materials, a quit kit and three additional calls with a dedicated specialist, and are offered in any language. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Kansas Residents

Kansas Quit Line
Sponsored by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, and provided by the American Cancer Society, this quit line offers screening, counseling, support materials and referrals for tobacco cessation assistance (based on an individual’s readiness to quit). Services are offered in both English and Spanish. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Call 1-866-KAN-STOP.
