University Named to President’s Honor Roll for Service
Rockhurst University has been recognized again by the federal Corporation for National and Community Service for its commitment to be “in the city for good.”
Rockhurst earned a spot with distinction on the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll in the General Community Service category. The President’s Honor Roll, compiled since 2006, recognizes institutions of higher education that excel in providing civic engagement and service learning opportunities for their students and impactful service to their communities.
Rockhurst students on average contribute more than 30,000 hours of volunteer service each year, with more than 80 percent of all students at the University engaging in service at some point during their college tenure.
“It’s great to be recognized again in the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll,” said Julia Vargas, director of the Center for Service Learning at Rockhurst. “It underlines the commitment to being men and women with and for others that continues to be an important part of learning and campus culture here at Rockhurst.”
