Women’s Soccer: Lierz named to All-America team
Rockhurst sophomore defender Kasey Lierz has been named to the 2012 Daktronics NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer All-America Team. Lierz is the first women’s soccer player from Rockhurst to earn Daktronics All-America honors since the program was started in 2006.
Lierz is one of only 59 Division II women’s soccer student-athletes from 30 different institutions to earn Daktronics All-America status this season. She was one of four defenders named to the All-America Second Team.
An All-Midwest Region First Team pick, Lierz ranked first in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and is tied for seventh in NCAA Division II with 12 assists. She also played an important role on defense, helping the Hawks limit their opponents to 11 goals in 21 games. In 40 career games, Lierz has recorded five goals and 16 assists for 26 points.
Sports information directors from NCAA Division II schools and conferences sponsoring women's soccer selected the Daktronics All-America teams. The process begins at the regional level with all First Team All-Region picks advancing to the national ballot. This is the seventh year Daktronics has sponsored the NCAA Division II women's soccer All-America and All-Region teams.
The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is voted on by the NCAA Division II members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA).
