Volleyball: Four Hawks receive AVCA All-Region honors

Four players from Rockhurst received All-Midwest Region honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Whitney Kostal, Emily Ready and Kelsey Stratman were named to the 14-player All-Region first team. Junior libero Victoria Mahl was named All-Region honorable mention.

Kostal, a freshman setter, ranks fourth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference in assists. Ready, a sophomore middle hitter, is among the GLVC leaders in hitting percentage and blocks. Stratman, a freshman middle hitter, also ranks among the top blockers and hitters in the GLVC. All three also earned All-GLVC West Division honors, while Stratman was named Co-Freshman of the Year in the GLVC.

The Hawks, 28-6, captured their first-ever GLVC Tournament championship on Sunday, Nov. 18. Rockhurst will face Indianapolis in the first round of the NCAA Midwest Regional on Thursday, Nov. 29 in Indianapolis.
