Men’s Soccer: Magee named Midwest Region Player of the Year
Rockhurst junior forward Mark Magee has been named the Daktronics Inc. Midwest Region Player of the Year, which is voted on by the region’s sports information directors. Magee was also named the Daktronics Inc. Region Player of the Year in 2011.
Magee led the Great Lakes Valley Conference with 15 goals and 39 points in 20 games. Seven of his goals were game-winning goals. Magee has amassed 29 goals and 79 points over the past two seasons at Rockhurst.
Joining Magee on the Daktronics Inc. All-Midwest Region first team from Rockhurst are junior goalkeeper Ryan Bass, senior defender Dan Frohock, and junior midfielders Paolo Scoppola and Nick McDonald. Junior defender Jon Scheiber earned All-Region second team honors.
The first team selections will now be placed on the national ballot for All-America consideration. The All-America teams will be released on Wednesday, Nov. 28, prior to the Division II national semifinals in Evans, Ga.
Rockhurst finished the season with an 18-3-2 overall record. The Hawks captured the GLVC regular season and tournament championships, and advanced the NCAA Midwest Regional finals.
