Rockhurst University Hosts Christmas Concert Tradition
Rockhurst University’s student choruses will present the 20th anniversary performance of Ceremony of Lessons and Carols at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at St. Francis Xavier Church, 52nd Street and Troost Avenue, west of the Rockhurst campus.
An instrumental ensemble of strings, winds, piano and harp will accompany the 30 voices in the University Chorus, Chamber Singers and Women’s Chorale. Thousands of audience members have experienced the joy of this holiday event for the past 20 years. The concert will feature traditional and nontraditional seasonal music; scripture readings representing the Christmas story; and carols sung by the choruses and audience, which includes the candlelit rendition of Silent Night and the program’s finale – O Holy Night.
Admission to the concert is free, but a donation of either a nonperishable food, a child’s gift, or a grooming product is requested. Last year hundreds of neighborhood families benefited from these contributions.
A candlelit procession will lead audience members to a complimentary post-concert reception in Massman Hall on the Rockhurst University campus. To register your attendance, call (816) 501-4828.
