Men’s Basketball: Hawks capture home opener
Four players scored in double figures to lead Rockhurst to an 87-58 victory over Kansas Wesleyan in the Hawks’ home opener Wednesday night at RU’s Mason-Halpin Field House.
Junior guard Brandon McCann paced the Hawks with 19 points while hitting five-of-nine three-point field goals. He also finished with four assists and six rebounds. Junior guard B.J. Dunbar posted 17 points, three assists and three steals. Junior forward Kareem Amedu came off the bench to collect 13 points and seven rebounds. Junior guard James Robinson added 10 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Rockhurst jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first three minutes and took a 47-25 lead into halftime. The Hawks hit 57.7 percent of their shots in the first half and finished with a 43.3 percent shooting night.
The Hawks, 1-1, next face Northwest Missouri State on Friday in the Hillyard Classic at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Mo., at 5:30 p.m. The game will be followed on Live Stats: .
