Women’s Soccer: Hawks capture NCAA opener

Rockhurst blanked Bellarmine 3-0 in the first round of the NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer Midwest Regional Friday night in Allendale, Mich. The win marked the Hawks’ first ever victory in the NCAA Tournament.
Sophomore forward Taylor Skala scored her team-high 12th goal of the season in the eighth minute. Julia Bartolacci and Caroline Brandt added the final two goals in the second half. Senior Lucy Sullivan stopped five shots to post her ninth shutout of the season.
The Hawks, 14-3-3, will face third-ranked Grand Valley State in an NCAA second-round game on Sunday at noon CST in Allendale, Mich.
