Monday, November 5, 2012
Rockhurst junior libero Victoria Mahl has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Mahl led the Hawks with 65 digs over three matches last week in league play.
Mahl helped Rockhurst to a 3-0 record, registering 3-1 victories against William Jewel and Drury, and a 3-0 win against West Division leader Missouri S&T. The St. Louis, Mo., native averaged 5.91 digs per set over 11 total sets on the week. Mahl currently ranks seventh in digs in the GLVC at 4.73 per set.
This week’s award is the second of Mahl’s career and the fourth time this season a Hawk has been honored with the league’s defensive award. Rockhurst’s Kelsey Stratman and Whitney Kostal were recognized on Sept. 24 and Oct. 1, respectively.
