Michelle Boisseau Reads for the Midwest Poets Series at Rockhurst University

Pulitzer Prize nominee Michelle Boisseau will read for the Midwest Poets Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, in the Mabee Theater at Rockhurst University. 

Boisseau has become a well-known, forceful presence in the poetry scene in this region and in the nation. Her co-authored book, Writing Poems, is the most widely used poetry writing text in the country and is now in its sixth edition.

Boisseau's books of poems include A Sunday in God-Years, nominated for the Pulitzer Prize; Trembling Air, finalist for the PEN USA award; Understory, winner of the Morse Prize; and No Private Life. 

Her work has appeared in The Gettysburg Review, The Southern Review, The Hudson Review, The Kenyon Review, Poetry, Ploughshares, The Threepenny Review, The Yale Review, and New Letters. She has received two awards from The Poetry Society of America and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts. 

Boisseau is a professor in creative writing and media arts in the English department at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where she is also an editor of BkMk Press.
