Volleyball: Hawks hold off Quincy, 3-2
Freshman Kelsey Stratman posted 14 kills and eight blocks with a .458 hitting percentage to lead Rockhurst to a 3-2 victory over Quincy on Saturday at RU’s Mason-Halpin Field House.
Stratman leads the GLVC in solo blocks (25) and ranks second in blocks (1.27 per set) and fourth in hitting percentage (.331) in the conference.
Rockhurst breezed to 25-18 and 25-12 wins in the first two sets. Quincy won the next two sets, 25-22 and 25-22. The Hawks closed out the match with a 25-16 win. The Hawks, now 20-6 overall, are in second place in the GLVC, play at William Jewell Tuesday night.
Maggie Hummel and Katie Loescher combined for 26 kills and seven blocks. Whitney Kostal posted 48 assists and 24 digs. Victoria Mahl added 23 digs.
On Friday, Loescher collected 16 kills in a 3-0 win over Illinois Springfield. Stratman added 11 kills and Mahl totaled 13 digs.
