Women’s Soccer: Hawks suffer 1-0 loss at William Jewell
William Jewell turned back five Rockhurst shots in shutting out the Hawks 1-0 on the final day of the regular season Wednesday night in Liberty, Mo.
The 20th-ranked Hawks, 12-2-3 overall, finished in fifth place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with a 10-2-3 conference record. Rockhurst will play at fourth-seeded Wisconsin-Parkside in the first round of the GLVC Tournament on Sunday in a noon start. The Hawks and Rangers are ranked fifth and sixth in this week’s NCAA Midwest Regional Poll.
Jewell scored the winning goal at the 55:08 mark on a shot inside the box. Both teams finished with 11 shots. Caroline Brandt led Rockhurst with three shots. Lucy Sullivan stopped five shots to improve her season save total to 58. Sullivan was given a red card with 1:20 left in the game.
