Volleyball: Hawks fall at Lewis, 3-1
The Rockhurst Hawks suffered a 3-1 loss to Lewis on Sunday in Romeoville, Ill. Rockhurst won the second set, 25-22, to even the
match. Lewis posted 25-17 and 25-19 wins to finish the match.
Kelsey Stratman paced the Hawks with 12 kills and five blocks. Katie Loescher also finished with 12 kills. Victoria Mahl collected 34 digs and Whitney Kostal totaled 39 assists.
On Saturday, Wisconsin-Parkside rallied in the final set to edge Rockhurst, 3-2, in Somers, Wis. The Rangers ended the match on a 6-0 run to win the fifth set, 15-12. Parkside won the second and third sets to take a 2-1 lead. The Hawks won the fourth set, 25-23, to force a fifth set. The Hawks finished with 59 kills while posting a .172 hitting percentage.
Stratman led the Hawks with 21 kills and 22.5 points. Maggie Hummel posted 15 kills and 16 points. Loescher added 11 kills and four blocks. Kostal collected 40 assists and 13 digs. Mahl finished with 34 digs.
Rockhurst, 18-6 and 7-4 in the GLVC, return home to host Illinois Springfield (Friday) and Quincy (Saturday).
