Men's Soccer: Bass named GLVC Player of the Week
Rockhurst junior goalkeeper Ryan Bass has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week.
Bass posted two shutouts while making nine saves against a pair of teams that each own conference records of .500 or better. The Jackson, Mo., native stopped four shots in the Hawks’ 3-0 win over McKendree last Friday, only to do one better with five saves in a 1-0 win against Bellarmine on Sunday.
Bass ranks second in the GLVC in shutouts (7) and is fourth-best in both goals-against average (0.66) and save percentage (.833). In 2011, Bass was honored as a first-team All-American, the GLVC’s Defensive Player of the Year, and an All-Conference selection.
This is the first career weekly award for Bass and the first for a Rockhurst player since Nick McDonald was recognized on Sept. 17 earlier this year.
The Hawks (11-2-2) are tied for second place in the GLVC with a 9-2-1 league record.
