Women’s Soccer: Hawks remain unbeaten at 11-0-3
Rockhurst kept its hold on first place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference as the Hawks battled Bellarmine to a 1-1 tie Sunday at RU's Bourke Field. The 13th-ranked Hawks, 11-0-3 overall, lead the GLVC with a 9-0-3 record and are one of only five unbeaten teams in NCAA Division II.
Sophomore defender Kasey Lierz gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead by scoring on a penalty kick at the 70:08 mark. Bellarmine tied the score at the 71:17 mark. The Hawks outshot Bellarmine 20-14. Katie Kujawa had a team-high five shots. Senior goalkeeper Lucy Sullivan posted five saves.
On Friday, freshman forward Brandi Van Booven scored the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute to give Rockhurst a 1-0 victory over McKendree (Ill.) at Bourke Field. Lierz collected her ninth assist of the season on Friday. Sullivan posted her eighth shutout of the season. She leads the GLVC in shutouts, goals against average (0.41) and save percentage (.891).
The Hawks will host Drury in their final regular season home game on Friday at 5:00 p.m.
