Men’s Soccer: Hawks edge Bellarmine, 1-0
Junior midfielder Sean Verbanic scored his fourth goal of the season to give Rockhurst a 1-0 victory over Bellarmine on Sunday at RU's Bourke Field. Verbanic found the upper right corner of the net from 20 yards out at the 51:32 mark with an assist from Paolo Scoppola.
Junior goalkeeper Ryan Bass made five saves while collecting his seventh shutout of the season. Bass ranks second in the GLVC in shutouts. He is fourth in goals against average (0.66) and save percentage (.833) in the GLVC. Bellarmine outshot the Hawks 13-11. Mark Magee led Rockhurst with four shots. Verbanic added three shots.
The Hawks, 11-2-2 overall, are tied for second place in the GLVC with Quincy with a 9-1-2 record. Rockhurst will host Drury in its final regular season home game on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

On Friday, Magee scored two goals to lead Rockhurst to a 3-0 victory over McKendree (Ill.) at Bourke Field. Magee scored in the 11th minute and added a penalty kick for his 10th goal of the season in the second half. Magee is the GLVC leader in points (28) and assists (8). Keith Williams scored on a header to give Rockhurst a 2-0 halftime lead. Bass stopped four shots.
