Women's Soccer: Hawks blank Washburn
Rockhurst scored four goals in the second half on the way to a 5-0 victory over Washburn Tuesday night at Yager Stadium in Topeka, Kan. The 12th-ranked Hawks remain unbeaten with a 9-0-1 record.
Haley Long, Taylor Skala, Katie Kujawa and Colleen Shannon found the nets in the final 45 minutes. Skala's goal was her team-high eighth goal of the season. She was named the GLVC Player of the Week on Monday.
Rockhurst led 1-0 at halftime on a goal in the 17th minute by freshman Jessica Cook, who also assisted on two goals in the second half.
The Hawks outshot Washburn 24-5 while posting 15 shots on goal. Cook and Skala led Rockhurst with four shots apiece. Brandi Van Booven added three shots. Senior goalkeeper Lucy Sullivan made three saves.
Rockhurst leads the Great Lakes Valley Conference with a 7-0-1 conference record. The Hawks play at Kentucky Wesleyan on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
