Volleyball: Stratman leads Hawks past Missouri Western
Freshman middle hitter Kelsey Stratman posted 15 kills and five blocks to lead Rockhurst to a 3-1 victory over Missouri Western Tuesday night at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House.
Six of Stratman's kills came in the fourth and deciding set, won by the Hawks 25-23. Rockhurst won the first set, 25-20, and rolled to a 25-17 win in the third set.
Stratman, who was named the GLVC Baden Defensive Player of the Week, led the Hawks with 21 blocks in three matches last week. She also collected 26 kills and 39 points. Stratman ranks second in the GLVC in blocks (1.39 per set) and solo blocks (12), and has moved up to seventh in hitting percentage (.293) in the GLVC.
Katie Loescher and Maggie Hummel both finished with 11 kills in the win over Missouri Western. Whitney Kostal collected 47 assists and 12 digs. Lauren Poulicek totaled a team-high 17 digs. Riley Russell added 10 digs.
The Hawks, 12-2 and 4-1 in the GLVC, return to conference play on Friday at Quincy in a 7:00 p.m. match.
