Return to the Nest for the 2012 Family and Alumni Weekend
The Rockhurst tradition continues Sept. 28-30 when Rockhurst alumni, current students, families and friends come together to make new memories during Family and Alumni Weekend.
“This is the perfect year to attend because you can customize your trip more than ever before,” said Mary Landers, director of alumni and constituent relations, whose department helps coordinate the event. “Attendees can follow our full schedule of events, or pick and choose what they want. We also encourage visitors to explore the latest additions to the Rockhurst campus and Kansas City.”
The weekend kicks off with a Pep Rally at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28, led by Rockhurst mascot Rock E. Hawk and the Spirit Squad. Hawk Fest, an outdoor carnival-style event featuring bounce houses, face-painting, a cartoonist and other family activities, will be held from 5-10 p.m.
Friday evening also includes a reception and dinner for this year’s class of Golden Hawks, and both a men’s and women’s soccer game.
Saturday’s activities include a continental breakfast, the annual family and alumni service project at Harvesters, alumni awards, side trips throughout Kansas City, Mass celebrated by Rockhurst President the Rev. Thomas B. Curran, and evening entertainment of dueling pianos.
The weekend wraps up on Sunday with brunch with Fr. Curran and both a men’s and women’s soccer game.
“We’re excited to welcome back so many members of the Rockhurst community,” said Landers. “It is truly a time to relive old memories and make new ones.”
