Fall Film Series Begins Sept. 4
The Rockhurst University Film Series and the University’s foreign language department will present three films on consecutive Thursdays in September. Faculty will introduce the films and conduct post-film discussions. Screenings for all films will begin at 7 p.m. in Mabee Theater inside Sedgwick Hall.
Sept. 4 - El viaje de Carol: Against the turbulent backdrop of the Spanish Civil War, Carol, a Spanish-American girl from New York, travels to her mother’s home village where her eyes are opened to a shocking new world of excitement, intrigue and danger. Directed by Imanol Uribe. Introduction by Leslie Merced, Ph.D.
Sept. 11 - Monsieur Lazhar: The moving and poignant story of a Montreal middle-school class shake by the death of their well-liked teacher and the 55-year-old Algerian immigrant substitute teacher who helps them heal. Directed by Philippe Falardeau. Introduced by Katie Madigan, Ph.D.
Sept. 18 - No Se Aceptan Devoluciones: Valentin Bravo’s life is turned upside down when a former fling leaves a baby on his doorstep. After moving to Los Angeles to search for the mother, he decides to raise the child alone and becomes a top Hollywood stuntman. Directed by Eugenio Derbez. Introduced by Rocio Duncan, Ph.D.
