Rockhurst Students Host Run to Benefit Hopkins Scholarship Fund

Two Rockhurst University Greek organizations are sponsoring a run to support a scholarship fund honoring Nelson E. Hopkins Jr., a local high school student who was murdered while walking home in December 2009.

Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority and Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity will host the Hopkins, Skip and Run 5K at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, starting from the Rockhurst campus, 54th Street and Troost Avenue. Registration is $20, from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. the day of the run.

The scholarship will benefit students at the Alta Vista Charter School in Kansas City, Mo., where Hopkins was a student.
