Rockhurst Fraternities Top GPA List
The average GPA of Rockhurst University’s fraternal organizations put them at the top of a list of their peers in rankings announced by the North American Interfraternity Conference.
The NIC, which represents 75 fraternal organizations at more than 800 college campuses across the United States and Canada, recently released its All-Fraternity Averages for the 2012-13 academic year. Collectively, the GPA of Rockhurst’s fraternity community was No. 1 on the list of the top 11 college fraternity communities, exceeding the averages at schools such as Cornell University and Washington University in St. Louis. The all-fraternity average GPA for fraternity members at Rockhurst, according to the NIC, was 3.46 on a 4-point scale.
That number was based on the reported GPAs of the active fraternities at Rockhurst: Alpha Delta Gamma, Pi Kappa Alpha and Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Together, those fraternities had a combined membership of 168 in the spring 2013 semester.
According to Megan Brower, Rockhurst’s assistant director of student life, the ranking shows the commitment that Rockhurst’s fraternal organizations show in encouraging members to excel in all aspects of fraternal life.
“Academic excellence is the foundation of the Greek experience, and this shows their commitment to this important core value of fraternity,” Brower said. “I’m so proud of the men in the IFC community and look forward to their continued success.”
