Return To The Rock: Instructional Modalities
Dear Student,
Earlier this week, we invited you to review your revised Fall Schedule with new modes of instruction to provide high quality, student-centered, and interactive teaching and learning environments. (NOTE: if you have not yet read the Tuesday July 14 email titled “Important Information about your Fall 2020 Class Schedule” please do so now).
Attached is a reminder tutorial on how to view your schedule, as well as a Quick Guide to understand the Schedule Types (i.e., modes of instruction) displayed on your Fall class schedule.
After reviewing the Schedule Type for each of your courses, if you choose to pursue making any changes to your Fall 2020 class schedule, please see the instructions below for: (1) new Rockhurst undergraduate (freshmen and transfer) students and (2) returning Rockhurst undergraduate students.
Reminder: Class schedule changes based on personal needs or preferences may be possible but are not guaranteed. We encourage you to approach your decision about whether to seek changes to your Fall 2020 schedule with a spirit of flexibility, openness and community.
(1) New Rockhurst Undergraduate Students (freshmen and transfer): We have created a form that you can fill out for requesting class changes due to Schedule Type (mode of instruction). The link to this form is below, but since the form requires that you enter specific information regarding which courses you want to add to and drop from your Fall 2020 schedule, please read the following note on how to search for classes:
- When looking for other courses available in the Fall 2020 term, you can use the Class Schedule Search tool by clicking on the Course Schedules side-bar link on the Registrar webpage at https://www.rockhurst.edu/academics/registrar/university-catalog. You can apply as many filters as you want in this search tool. You can also filter by Schedule Type (mode of instruction). You can choose multiple items in each filter drop-down menu by using the shift or control keys.
For other general registration questions please contact registrar@rockhurst.edu.
(2) Returning Rockhurst Undergraduate Students: For making class changes due to Schedule Type (mode of instruction), please use your student registration portal to add or drop a class.
NOTE when using your registration portal:
- All Registration PINs for returning students have been removed so from now until the last date to add or drop a fall course, no Registration PIN will be required - you may enter your Registration Portal without the use of your Registration PIN.
- The last date to add or drop a fall semester course (for Full term or Session A) is Monday, Aug. 31.
- When looking for other courses available in the Fall 2020 term, recall that you can use the Class Schedule Search tool by clicking on the Course Schedules side-bar link on the registrar webpage at https://www.rockhurst.edu/academics/registrar/university-catalog. You can apply as many filters as you want in this search tool. You can also filter by Schedule Type (mode of instruction). You can choose multiple items in each filter drop-down menu by using the shift or control keys.
- Before you drop one course to add another, be sure to check for required pre-requisites of the new class. All course pre-requisites are found in the current Undergraduate Catalog at https://www.rockhurst.edu/academics/registrar/university-catalog
- Before you drop one course to add another, be sure the new class is not already filled to capacity. To view if a course is full, find the course in the Course Schedules side-bar link on the Registrar webpage at https://www.rockhurst.edu/academics/registrar/university-catalog. Once you have found the course, click on the highlighted course title to see the course detail – which includes the current course enrollment capacity.
- If the course you need is full you may complete the “Closed Course Petition” form found at https://www.rockhurst.edu/academics/registrar - this petition will be received by the dean’s office to add your name to the waitlist for that course.
- If you have medical needs that involve a specific schedule delivery type for your fall courses please submit that request to our Disabilities Resource Center by completing this form. If you have questions or concerns about the form, please email drc@rockhurst.edu.
Returning students making your own changes in the student registration portal, please be sure to follow the procedures above to confirm that a different course option is available for you before dropping a currently enrolled course.
For other general registration questions please contact registrar@rockhurst.edu.
