Women's Basketball: Hawks finish 14th in the nation in Academic Honor Roll
The Rockhurst women’s basketball team finished 14th in the nation among NCAA Division II institutions in the 2010-11 Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. The Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll Award recognizes teams throughout the nation that have the highest grade point averages (GPA) for the 2010-11 season based upon nominations submitted by WBCA-member coaches. The Hawks finished with a 3.513 team GPA. This marks the sixth time since 2002 that Rockhurst has been ranked in the Academic Top 25 Division II Team Honor Roll. The Hawks finished in the top 10 for three consecutive seasons from 2007-10. "We're very proud of our success in the classroom and we hope to continue to excel academically in the future," said Rockhurst coach Larry Park. "We hold academics in high esteem with our student-athletes." Founded in 1981, the WBCA promotes women’s basketball by unifying coaches at all levels to develop a reputable identity for the sport and to foster and promote the development of the game in all of its aspects as a sport for women and girls.
