Medical assisting students are in high demand for healthcare jobs

Healthcare jobs have soared in the last few years, and are projected to grow by 16% by 2030*. Among those at the forefront of the jump is the medical assistant position at 18% projected growth from 2020-2030*.

"Demand for MAs is incredibly high right now," said Eric Bluml, DO, a family practice physician in Platte City, Missouri. "Anyone interested in healthcare or just wanting to help others should consider a career as an MA."

A medical assistant is a contributing member of any healthcare team with the responsibility for preparing patients and assisting fellow healthcare professionals with medical procedures.

Saint Luke’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences has been a top medical assistant school in the Kansas City area for its work preparing individuals for healthcare jobs in the medical assisting field. As many as 80% of Saint Luke’s medical assisting grads are employed within six months of graduating (the national average is 73%**), and the affiliation with the Saint Luke’s Health System and Hospital – the third-largest employer in Kansas City – helps grads find employment easily.

What Makes Saint Luke’s College Different?

As one of the best medical assistant schools in the Kansas City region, Saint Luke’s puts a priority on the foundational knowledge, skills, and behavior required to be a high-level professional when seeking healthcare jobs. The integration of knowledge and skills, combined with the development of the “whole person” makes Saint Luke’s graduates highly competent and outstanding people who excel at their careers.

The foundational knowledge learned has resulted in a 91.66% RMA exam pass rate (national average 73%), 96.8% course pass rate, and 100% course completion rate.

Additional emphasis is placed on effectively communicating with fellow professionals and patients verbally, non-verbally, and in written communication. Their ability to be a contributing and effective team member who is also trained in regulations, policies, and patient rights, health-related ethics, lab skills, as well as the medical practice organizational and financial aspects of office management makes them an attractive hire for practices and facilities offering healthcare positions.

Among the main places to find healthcare jobs in the Kansas City area, Saint Luke's medical assistants have found employment at Swope Medical, St. Luke's medical practices, KC Cares, Meritas clinics, and KC-area hospitals, to name a few.
