Baseball: Rockhurst receives invite to NCAA Tournament
The Rockhurst Hawks will meet Grand Valley State (Mich.) in the first round of the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional at 6 p.m. EST Thursday, May 17 in Ypsilanti, Mich.
Rockhurst enters the NCAA Tournament with a 32-17 record and is the No. 5 seed. The Hawks will be making their first trip since 2009, and their sixth trip overall, to the NCAA Tournament. Second-seeded Grand Valley State is 41-14 after winning the GLIAC Tournament.
Indianapolis is the top seed and will meet sixth-seeded Lewis (Ill.) in the first round at 11 a.m. EST Thursday. Wayne State (Mich.) is the No. 3 seed and takes on fourth-seeded Northern Kentucky in the other first-round game at 2:30 p.m. EST Thursday.
The Midwest Regional is being played at Oestrike Stadium on the campus of Eastern Michigan University. The double-elimination event continues through Sunday, May 20 and the regional champion will advance to the NCAA Division II World Series in Cary, N.C., May 26-June 2.
