In Praise of Nurses
Friday, May 7, 2021
For all who give You a face, oh God,
by spreading Your love through their work and witness,
we thank You.
For all who give You hands, oh God,
by caring for their fellow human beings in their fullness – body, mind and spirit,
we thank You.
For all who give You a mouth, oh God,
by comforting, educating, laughing with, singing to, and advocating for others,
we thank You.
For all who give You ears, oh God,
by hearing the needs – spoken and unspoken – of their patients and their patients’ loved ones, we thank You.
For all who give You eyes, oh God,
By recognizing and reverencing the dignity of each unique life,
we thank You.
For all who give You a heart, oh God,
by embodying compassion as they attend to people in their vulnerability,
we thank You.
For nurses,
who reveal You in who they are and what they do, oh God,
we thank You.
